Correction: An earlier version of this post inaccurately stated the number of people living in the area bounded by the outline of Gaza on the map of Boston above. The error has been deleted.
Boston and Gaza have similar population densities, both in the neighborhood of 13,000 people per square mile. In the map above, an outline of Gaza is superimposed on Boston, approximately to scale. As Israel’s invasion of Gaza continues, it’s worth remembering just how small the area of land is, and how many people call it home.
